Blue Moon Clone

My first partial mash brew is a Blue Moon Clone from Austin Homebrew Supply. AHS is one of the best places to get homebrew kits, and supplies or pretty much anything you need for homebrewing beer. A little background on my homebrewing experience. I started out in the late 1990's, it might have been 1998 or 99. I started homebrewing beer with a Beer Machine(tm) from one of those TV info-mercials at 2am.

Now I have done my share of Extract Homebrewing and recently graduated into homebrewing method involving specialty grains and extract. The difference in flavor is quite remarkable. I think this is the way to go for a balance of taste, flavor and ease of technique for brewing.

The process is really easy, put all the grains in a steeping bag and let them steep at 155 F degrees for 45 minutes. After steeping rinse the grains with 1quart per 2lbs of grain water at 170 F degrees. I added approx 1.5 to 2lbs of the 5lbs of LME. Boiled for 60 minutes adding the bittering hops @ 60 min and the aroma at 15 minutes. At 10 minutes I added the coriander and orange peel. Then I did what is called a late addition of the rest of the LME at flameout to maintain the color nearest to the real Blue Moon.
